My name is Wojtek and I am a design researcher, designer and a strategist applying human-centered design and strategic methods to help solve complex innovation challenges for clients of all shapes and sizes. Over the course of my career I have innovated with and on behalf of leading organizations and brands in financial services, healthcare, life sciences, consumer goods, transportation, the public sector as well as technology startups in fashion and digital health technology. I have also worked with several leading academic institutions with a specialized focus on building solutions to support clinical healthcare and clinical research. I believe that a multidisciplinary approach to design and innovation is necessary to solve for some of the most pressing challenges for individuals, organisations, and society as a whole. I have over 12 years of collective design, innovation and business experience in a variety of roles.
My work is focused on helping identify opportunity areas for conceptualizing and building new products, services and businesses. I am also doing a lot of work in digital service design with particular focus on healthcare information platforms and mHealth solutions. And finally, I am helping organizations strategize on the direction of their internal innovation capabilities and workplace strategies.
In my current role as the Director of the Digital Anthropology Lab at London College of Fashion, I manage an academic R&D centre dedicated to understanding the role and impact of emerging and future technologies on the way people behave. I manage a team of research fellows and PhD candidates on research projects in the overlap between interaction design and social sciences. I also advise the college leadership with regards to commercial partnerships, contract research activities, digital strategy, digital education and experiential learning curriculums. Finally, I work hands on with multidisciplinary student project teams to help bring human-centred design principles and methods into the fashion design and manufacturing space.
Day-to-day, I strive to build strong workplace relationships through genuine, positive and clear communication. I believe in being a self-starter and taking ownership of my work whether it is management or getting my hands dirty with project content. In order to build a great experience for clients, team members or even participating users, I think it is my responsibility to consider and address their goals and motivations at the individual, group and business levels. I always aim to be considerate and thoughtful in any scenario and I believe being a professional means approaching things with rigour, discipline, and a sensitivity to people and context.
If you were to ask me why I get up and go to work with a smile every morning I would tell you there are really two key reasons . First, I am deeply passionate about understanding human behavior and human-centered design offers an opportunity to learn about people and to translate this understanding into products and services with potential to really impact people's everyday lives. And secondly, I believe and specialize in cultivating the right conditions for the development of a prolific design or innovation practice within any organization. For me this means creating an environment that can be a catalyst for the work we do, a great place to work for everyone, and a place where the people and the organization continue to learn and shape their future together.
Thank you very much for visiting my digital home. Studio W/T is designed to offer a flavour of my professional capabilities as well as a platform to share my thoughts on the world of research, strategic design and a range of specialised topic areas. I try and showcase only the things that I feel strongly about and write openly about what they mean to me and my work. So with that in mind, I'd like to invite you to explore, share your thoughts in whatever way you like and please get in touch if you have an opportunity you would like to discuss or simply want to connect.
